Apple vs The FBI
In the biggest tech case of the year, Apple is fighting the US government in the California court system, and we wanted to find out how they are fairing in the court of public opinion.
We surveyed over 1000 people after Apple sent the now infamous letter, and the news story broke out and dominated the evening news streams. Here’s what we found.
Out of nearly 2,000 people reached (1976), nearly 57% (1178) were aware of the privacy issue at the time of the survey on February 18, 2016.
We wanted to find how the public felt about these critical topics, including
- Should Law Enforcement have access to locked phones ?
- If not -what if the information could stop a crime or save a life?
- What if this was one of your relatives in danger – is it ok then?
- If so, in what situations should they have access?
- Should the LE agency have to get a warrant from a judge?
- Will this case set a precedent for future requests?
- Will this open Apple up to a future security threat?
